Stopped using a level every 3 courses after watching an old timer on a job in Cleveland
Last month I was working alongside a guy who's been laying brick for 40 years and he showed me how he just eyeballs it with a string line and a trowel tap, now I only check every 6 courses and my walls come out straighter with less time wasted, anyone else ditch the level sometimes?

40 years of brick laying makes you trust the tap for sure...

and that's how it goes with so many things, right? you get that deep trust from doing something a certain way for decades, then someone younger comes along and shows you a whole new way to do it and you're like wait, maybe i was missing something. it's like the older guy at my gym who's been doing the same curls since the 80s and won't even look at a kettlebell.
