Serious question, has anyone else tried those new laser level mounts?

I spent about $400 on a fancy magnetic mount for my DeWalt laser level last fall. Everyone on the crew said it was a waste, but I thought it would speed up setting up corners. Turns out, the magnets are not strong enough for a breeze on a steel stud, and it fell twice on a job in Cincinnati. Now it sits in my truck. What do you guys actually use to hold your lasers steady?

Exactly. Overthinking is a real trap.

Oh man, that line about it sitting in your truck hits home. I was totally sold on the idea of a magnetic mount too, thought it was the future. I had a similar thing happen with a cheap one on a duct. It slid right down and the laser popped off. Now I just use the old tripod it came with. It takes a few more seconds to set up, but it never moves. I feel like sometimes the simple way is the right way.
