Rant: spent $80 on a laser level and it was a total waste
Thought I was being smart getting a cheap laser level from Amazon for my retaining wall job. Thing was off by a quarter inch over 20 feet, had to redo the whole first row. Anybody got a brand that actually holds true under $200?

Have you tried checking the calibration with a simple string line first though? Sometimes it's not the tool, it's how we set it up.

My buddy Mike spent two hours trying to dial in his miter saw, cussing at the fence, and it turned out his string line was just an old shoelace that had stretched. He swapped it for a proper builder's line, and everything lined up perfectly on the first cut. It's funny how something that basic can save you a headache, you know?
