I hit 500 bricks laid in a single day last week and honestly, I think that's a bad goal.
Everyone at the site in Tacoma was pushing for that number like it was a badge of honor, but I felt my joints getting sloppy by brick 400. My mentor, Frank, always said a good wall is about patience, not pace. Has anyone else found that chasing a high count just leads to more callbacks for repointing?

Totally agree with you. Speed kills quality in this trade. Frank sounds like he knows what's up.

Yeah, @hugo_ellis, slowing down saved my last project.

Frank really does get it. Rushing leads to mistakes, plain and simple. I've seen too many guys ruin good wood because they pushed through a cut too fast. Slowing down lets you catch things before they become problems. That little extra time saves you from a lot of headaches later on. It's a hard lesson to learn, but once you feel the difference in the final product, it sticks with you.
