Hit 500 bricks laid in a single day on a straight run last week
I was working on a long garden wall in Phoenix and the mix was just perfect, not too wet. I started at 6am and by 4pm I had laid exactly 502 bricks. I've never broken 450 before. It mattered because the schedule was tight and that pace let us finish the base course a full day early. Has anyone else hit a personal best like that on a simple, repetitive section?

Hitting 500 is a serious milestone. The biggest thing for me was having my spot board and mortar tub set up perfectly so I never had to reach or move more than a step. I also switched to a larger margin trowel for that run, which cut down on the number of dips into the mortar. When everything is just in the right place, you can get into a rhythm that feels almost automatic.

That setup rhythm Loganhart described is the best feeling.

That automatic rhythm is real, just like when I found the perfect water-to-mortar ratio for my mix one time and didn't have to stop and adjust a single batch all day. Everything just clicked and my trowel felt like an extension of my arm, no thinking required. Once you hit that pocket, the whole job moves faster and you feel like you could lay block forever.
