My cousin makes $71k a year reading water meters and I laughed at him for it
He works for the city in Fort Wayne and does the same 8 mile route every single day, rain or shine, and I honestly thought it was the saddest job I ever heard of. Then he showed me his pay stub over Thanksgiving and mentioned he gets a pension plus full health coverage and nobody ever calls him after 3pm. Am I crazy for thinking about applying, or does anyone here actually do this kind of work and hate it?
How did he get into it in the first place, like did he need any kind of degree or certification or did they just train him on the spot? The pension part is what gets me, cause most jobs now don't give you that no matter how hard you work. Also does he actually walk the whole 8 miles or does he drive a truck part of the time?
