Just realized the night security gig at my old office building paid $21/hr to basically watch cameras
I was chatting with the guy who works the overnight desk at a downtown Chicago office tower last week, and he let slip he makes $21 an hour plus shift differential for what is mostly sitting in a quiet lobby and doing two 15 minute patrols a night. He said the only real skill needed is staying awake and writing a clear incident report if something weird happens, which is maybe twice a month. Anyone here worked a security desk job like that, and is the boredom the tradeoff or did you find ways to make the time useful?
