Just realized the guys I thought had the worst job on the site, flagging traffic for $22 an hour, were making more than my crew lead
I was standing in the ditch on a job in Boise last week watching this flagger on his phone for 6 hours while I ran a crew of 4 busting our backs, and when I did the math on his hourly plus the per diem the GC was paying him, he cleared more than my lead who has been doing this for 11 years, so now I am seriously wondering if I picked the wrong end of the shovel.

Did you know some flaggers are actually on the contractor's payroll as "traffic control techs" and get a bump for certs? Knew a guy who did it for a summer and he was pulling down more than the guys pouring concrete next to him. Weird world when the guy holding the sign is winning.
