Unpopular opinion: I think basic craft glue works fine for most book projects

When I started binding, everyone told me to only use special bookbinding glue. I ran out once and used regular craft glue on a personal sketchbook. Tbh, that book has held up through daily use for two years now. I get that quality matters, but for hobby stuff, I think we can relax a bit. Not every project needs the expensive stuff.

Wait no, craft glue gets brittle and cracks over time. I ruined a journal that way, pages started falling out after a year. The special glue stays flexible, which is the whole point for something you open and close a lot.

Ugh, that's the worst... lost a sketchbook to the same thing. Learned that lesson the hard way too.

A year?! That's crazy fast for pages to fall out, I would've been so upset. Good to know craft glue is that bad though.
