My sewing frame snapped mid-signature yesterday

I was working on a leather-bound journal for a client in Denver and the top crossbar just cracked in half. Had to rig up a temporary clamp with a C-clamp and a piece of scrap wood to finish the last 3 signatures. Anyone else had a tool fail on them at the worst possible time?

It's like everything in life is connected to this one rule: stuff breaks when you least expect it and can least afford it. I had my water heater blow a hole in itself at 2 AM on a Sunday night once, right before a week of freezing weather. Had to shower at a friend's place for four days while waiting on the plumber. And the funny thing is, when things are going smooth, you never think to check if your tools or appliances are about to give up. They just wait for that one moment when you're already stretched thin.

That maple crossbar just giving up like that is brutal. But honestly it feels like tools and stuff always break when you need them most, right? Like my car's AC died last July during a heatwave, had to drive around with the windows down for 2 weeks. And once my phone's charging port stopped working right before a big road trip, had to borrow a power bank from a stranger at a gas station. Feels like the universe has a weird sense of timing, always testing you when you're already in a jam. Hope that clamp held for you.
