Hot take: I keep seeing people skip the grain test on new paper stock
I watched a friend's project warp after a week because the paper grain ran the wrong way for the cover. You have to tear a small piece to check the grain direction before you cut anything. Has anyone else had a project ruined by this?

Honestly, how bad was the warp? I've cut paper wrong before and it's never been a total disaster.

It's the small mistakes that always snowball into the biggest messes. Like one wrong cut and the whole project's off track.

Oh man I've been there. If the warp is just a slight curve you can usually fix it by running the back side of the paper over the edge of a table a few times with pressure. That stretches the fibers just enough to pull it flat again. But if you cut into the actual grain of the paper and its really warped you might as well start over cause it's never gonna sit flat again.
