Found a simple trick for endband sewing that saved my hands

I was working on a small restoration job for a local library in Cleveland last month, and my arthritis was acting up from all the tight stitching. I tried wrapping a bit of felt around my needle handle, and it gave me just enough grip without straining my fingers. Now I can sew endbands for longer stretches without needing to stop every 15 minutes. Has anyone else found a quick fix for hand fatigue during long binding sessions?

My local hardware guy actually suggested those rubber jar openers for grip too, works like a charm. @grant_palmer your buddy is onto something real. I tried it with my awl handle last week and it made a big difference for my thumbs. Sometimes the simplest stuff from around the house ends up being the handiest tool on the bench.

Buddy of mine used a rubber jar opener and swore by it for weeks.
