That stat about book club readers ditching fiction blew my mind
I was scrolling through some data from the Pew Research Center last night and found out that fiction readership in book clubs has dropped by like 40% since 2018. I always thought clubs were all about novels, but my own group shifted hard into nonfiction when we read "The Warmth of Other Suns" by Isabel Wilkerson in 2020 and got hooked on history. Makes me wonder if other people's clubs are seeing the same swing away from made-up stories?

Seems like the pandemic really did shift people's priorities. My own club dropped novels completely after we read "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind" and got into memoirs. Now we're all about biographies and history books, things that feel grounded in real life. Fiction just doesn't give you that same kind of solid information anymore.

That tracks with what I've seen in my own social circles too, seems like everyone's gravitating toward real stories and current events ever since the pandemic shifted how we all look at the world. The craving for facts and history just feels stronger now than the escape of fiction.
