Serious question, our book club almost broke up over the ending of a 400 page novel at Tuesday's meeting
We met at Carol's place on Maple Street last Tuesday and got into a 45 minute fight about whether the author left the ending open on purpose or just ran out of ideas. Half the group said it was lazy writing and the other half said we were supposed to argue about it, which honestly made me rethink how I pick our monthly books. Does your club have a rule for books with vague endings, or do you just let the fight happen?
Think the fight is actually the point, not a problem to fix. A book that gets 45 minutes of arguing out of people did its job way better than one everybody nods at and forgets.
