She ran our Tuesday group at the library for 9 years and swore that forcing yourself through a bad book makes you a better reader, so I stuck with every dull 500 pager the group picked. Around 2 years in, I realized I was dreading book club and barely remembered half of what I pushed through, so I started quitting books at the 100 page mark and suddenly I actually had things to say at meetings. Did anyone else get told to power through everything, and did it help you or just wear you down?
