Rant: That beloved popular book club pick I finally read last month
Everyone in my group raved about *The Midnight Library* for months. I finally caved and read it last month, and honestly I don't get the hype. The whole alternate lives thing felt overly simplistic and the main character's realization seemed forced. What popular book did you finally read and think was completely overrated?

Did anyone else notice how every life lesson was basically just "be grateful for what you have"?

That third episode really got me though (the one with the broken toy). Like yeah, the lesson was "be grateful" but the way they kept hammering it home made me feel weird. The mom in that show never had a bad day, you know? I mean, one time I saved up months for a new phone and then dropped it in a puddle like an hour later. My actual reaction wasn't some heartfelt moment of gratitude. Maybe I'm just cynical (okay definitely cynical) but that kind of perfect lesson feels like it was written by someone who never had to scrape together rent money.
