Ran my book club for 2 years before I figured out I was picking all wrong

For two years I ran our Tuesday night group at the library on 5th Street and I always picked the books myself, thinking I knew what everyone wanted. Then one night Dana, who hardly ever talks, said she had quit reading the pick three months in a row because none of it was anything she'd touch on her own. I started letting each person bring one book a month and our group went from 4 regulars to 11 in about 6 months. How does your club handle who picks the books, does one person run it or does everyone get a turn?
