Our club read the book first then watched the movie, and we got it backwards
Last month we did The Martian for our Thursday group at the diner on 5th, and half of us watched the movie before finishing the book. I was in the book-first camp and thought we had it made, but the movie crowd was the one catching all the stuff the book skips over. The scene where he grows the potatoes hit way harder on screen for them, and they had real questions about the science while I was still stuck picturing the Hermes wrong. We argued for an hour and a half and nobody changed sides. Anybody else's club tried both orders and seen which one actually makes for better talk?
