We used to fight over pacing every single meeting until someone suggested we all read the first 100 pages before any plot talk, and now our debates actually focus on character choices instead of who read ahead, has anyone else tried a reading order rule that fixed their group's dynamic?

Flip the rule around on your group. Try making everyone read the last 10 pages first before they touch page one. Its wild how fast people drop their "this pacing is bad" takes when they already know where things land. My crew did that for a thriller pick and suddenly the argument became about whether the ending earned the setup, not just who spoiled what. Its like forcing everyone to argue backwards then work forwards, and it killed the smug read-ahead energy completely.
