My book club voted to skip chapter 3 and I can't stop thinking about it

We spent 40 minutes arguing about whether to skip the middle chapters of a 700 page novel and the majority won, but then one member quoted a line from page 214 that tied everything together. Has anyone else had a club decision that made the whole discussion feel hollow after?

Heard a podcast say skipping chapters is like skipping verses in a song, kinda breaks the point.
