Gave in and read a Colleen Hoover book after years of rolling my eyes

My sister shoved Verity at me during a visit to Denver last month and I finished it in one night. The twist was actually good and now I have to admit all those book club picks might not be total trash. Has anyone else been forced to eat their words on a popular author?

You know what really got me @elliotc10? My buddy Dave - he's a huge Stephen King snob, always talking about "real horror" - he picked up Verity on a dare from his sister and finished it during a red-eye flight to Chicago. He texted me at 2 AM from the airport just saying "okay fine, the twist got me." He spent the next week pretending he didn't enjoy it while secretly googling for similar books.

...and she finished it in one night? That's actually wild to me because I've been so anti-Colleen Hoover for years (the covers alone, man). Verity is the one that keeps showing up on my feed though, and now I'm genuinely curious if the twist is as good as everyone says. I might have to borrow my sister's copy next time she's in town, but I'll be annoyed if I actually like it.
