Can we talk about how a stranger at the dog park changed my mind on audiobooks?
I used to be one of those people in our club who rolled their eyes at audiobooks. Felt like cheating, honestly. Then last Tuesday I was at the dog park on 5th and this retired English teacher named Carol asked what I was reading, and when I mentioned our pick she said she'd finished it twice already, once with her eyes and once on audio while gardening. She pointed out that hearing a book read aloud is basically how stories worked for thousands of years before print, and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. Now I'm wondering if we should do a meeting where half of us listen and half of us read, just to see how different the talk gets. Has anyone here tried running a discussion like that?
