Book club moderator swore by cliffnotes, I should've trusted my gut on the ending
Our group leader said the 1984 discussion was gonna be straightforward if we just read the cliffnotes version of the last chapters before the meeting. Brought my own copy with the real ending, and the whole hour turned into a mess of people arguing about stuff that wasn't even in the book. Someone pulled up a quote from page 210 that contradicted the cheat sheet, and the moderator got all defensive about it. Has anyone else had a club where the leader's shortcut actually made the debate worse? Maybe I should switch groups over this, but it's the only one near my place in Austin.
