That week we had to weld up a cracked firebox in a 100 degree shop
The heat was so bad my hood kept fogging up, but the foreman brought in a big fan and a cooler full of ice water. It made a huge difference... has anyone else found a good trick for staying cool during those brutal summer repairs?

That cooler full of ice water is one of those small things that just works.

Honestly, @felix_bailey45 is right about the ice water, that's a lifesaver. For the hood fog, a cheap trick is to rub a tiny bit of dish soap on the inside lens and wipe it clear (just a dab, you don't want bubbles). It keeps the fog off for a few hours at least. Also, soaking a bandana in that ice water and tying it around your neck under the hood helps a ton, it cools the blood going to your head. Makes those long welds in the heat a bit more bearable.
