Shoutout to the guy who told me to check my rigging twice on that big tank job
We were setting a 12-foot section of 3/8 inch plate in a power plant near Toledo, and my usual spotter was out sick. The new guy gave the all-clear, but something felt off. I walked over and saw the choker was barely on the lifting lug. If we'd taken the strain, it would have slipped for sure. Anyone else have a moment where a quick double-check saved a real bad day?

Damn, that's a close call. What did you say to the new guy after you found it?

Oh man, I kept it pretty calm but direct. I just pulled him aside and said we needed to check the sterilization logs together right then. Told him everyone makes a mistake, but this is the one area where we can't have any. He was really shaken up, which I get. We went through the whole procedure again step by step.
