Heard a foreman in Gary say 'just send it' about a 6 inch steam line, and it's been bugging me for 3 days
I was standing near the trailers at a job site in Gary, Indiana last week and heard a foreman tell his crew to just send it on a 6 inch steam line that hadn't been hydro tested yet. I didn't say anything because it's not my crew, but that line runs at 350 degrees and 200 psi, and skipping the test to save maybe 4 hours is how people get hurt. Am I wrong for thinking this should get flagged to the safety guy, or is hydro testing getting skipped way more than I want to believe?

Man, I get why you want to flag it, but in my experience that foreman probably knows that line better than anyone walking by. A lot of times crews will pressure test with air or do a partial check and the paperwork just hasn't caught up, so what looks like skipping could be something else. Your mileage may vary though, and if you truly saw them fire it up cold with no test at all, that's worth a quiet word to the safety guy, not a callout.
