Had the worst week of my career on a boiler retrofit in Pittsburgh last month
Three days straight of fighting with old rivets that wouldn't budge and then the new tube sheet showed up with the holes drilled a quarter inch off. Anyone else deal with replacement parts that just don't fit right?

Wait, @tessa_roberts1, are you saying you'd rather have the factory send everything perfect and then blame you when it doesn't fit? I figure if the holes are off, that's just job security - gives us something to fix and bill for. Plus, getting it right the first time would make us look too easy, right?

Used to be the kind of person who'd say "just line it up and make it work" but after fighting with a pre-drilled flange that was off by half an inch on a boiler last fall, I totally get the frustration now. Sometimes you think the factory knows what they're doing but then you get something that clearly wasn't checked before it shipped. Three days is brutal though, especially when you're already up against a deadline. Makes you wonder if quality control even exists anymore or if they just rush everything out the door.
