Warning: my $100 foam core insert turned out to be a trap
I spent $100 on custom foam core inserts for my board game shelves a few years back... Looked great but had to toss them after they started warping from humidity. Anyone else regret going fancy with storage instead of just bagging things up?

Wait, hold up, $100 for foam core inserts? Thats wild. I mean, I get wanting things to look clean but that's like half the price of a new game! And they got all warped from humidity? That's rough, my basement gets kinda damp in the summer and I would have been so mad if that happened to me. Did you at least try to save them by drying them out or something? I just use those little plastic baggies from the dollar store and they work fine, no regrets.

Dakota_rivera, you know what, I used to be all about those fancy foam core inserts too. Thought they were the only way to keep my boxes tidy. But after seeing your post and remembering how my own set got all warped and useless after a humid summer, I had to admit I was wrong. Threw them out and just went back to using those little plastic snack baggies and some cardboard dividers I cut up myself. Works just fine and I don't get mad when it gets a little damp down here. Are you sticking with the baggies or have you tried anything else cheap that holds up?

My buddy Mike dropped like $80 on those foam core inserts for his whole collection and felt so proud of himself. He kept posting pictures on social media about how clean his shelves looked. Then a couple months later we had a really humid week and I went over to his place and half his boxes were bulging out. The inserts had warped so bad they were pushing the lids open. He tried to flatten them out with books on top but they just crinkled and tore. Now he just uses those cheap plastic baggies from the craft store and says it's way less stressful.
