Thought the whole 'sleeving cards' thing was a waste until I spilled coffee on my copy of Dominion
It was last Tuesday. Full mug of black coffee right onto the deck box. My friend Matt just stared at me. I had maybe 60 plays on that set so the cards were worn but fine. I grabbed a napkin and started dabbing. Some of the cards got pretty warped. The ones that survived were the ones I had sleeved as a joke after a YouTube video. Now I'm ordering sleeves for all my favorites. How do you guys handle drink accidents at the table?

oh man you sound like you've been converted to the church of sleeves now lol. i still dont get it. i've been playing mtg for like 15 years with no sleeves and my cards just look broken in, not destroyed. a little coffee stain just adds character to the game if you ask me.

Man I felt that one, @felix_jones. I was the exact same way until my buddy knocked over a beer at a board game night and it soaked into my copy of Splendor. I had this ancient copy, sleeves were an afterthought at best. The chips were fine but the cards were a mess. I just sat there watching the beer soak in, realizing that's a whole game set I gotta replace. The sleeves on my other games saved them. I get the whole "broken in" look thing but coffee stains and warped cardboard are not the same as a little wear from shuffling. Once you see a drink kill a game, you just start sleeving everything you care about.
