Shoutout to the guy at Gen Con 2019 who taught me to sleeve cards before the first shuffle
I sat down at a pick up game of Dominion in the open gaming hall three years ago with a deck I'd owned since college, and a guy named Doug handed me a pack of sleeves without saying a word. I laughed it off, but he showed me his copy of the same game from 2008 that still looked brand new, and my cards were already soft and worn at the corners after maybe 20 plays. Now every game I buy over $30 gets sleeved the day it comes home, and I've taught at least six people at my local shop in Portland to do the same. Last month I pulled out that old Dominion set and the difference between my beat up cards and his was rough to look at. Does anyone still skip sleeves on purpose, or did you all get converted by some Doug too?
