My Tuesday night game group fell apart over a broken timer
We meet every Tuesday at Dave's place in Portland, and last week was supposed to be our big Codenames tournament. I brought the new timer I got for $12 off Amazon, the one with the big display, and it died after the first round. The battery door was cracked and the whole thing just stopped beeping. We spent 20 minutes trying to find a replacement in Dave's junk drawer, then gave up and used a phone stopwatch. It threw off the whole pace, people kept forgetting to pass it, and two teams argued over whether a guess was 5 seconds late. We ended up calling the night early around 9:30, which never happens. Has anyone else had a cheap timer wreck a game night, or do you have a reliable one under $25 that won't quit mid-round?

Buddy of mine had a sand timer fall off the table and shatter during a Catan game, glass everywhere. We used a phone for the rest of the night and it felt like the whole vibe was off.
