My copy of Terraforming Mars had a board warp so bad it wouldn't lay flat

It happened about three weeks ago after I left the game set up on my table for a few days. The central board just curled up at the edges like a potato chip. I tried the heavy book trick for a full week, but it didn't fix it. I ended up carefully using a hair dryer on low heat and then pressing it under a stack of my heaviest rulebooks, which helped a lot. Has anyone else had a warped board from that game, and what did you do to fix it for good?

Hair dryers can actually make warping worse over time.

But is it really that big of a deal? I've got a couple boards with a slight curve and they still lay flat enough to play. We're not storing priceless art here, they're game pieces. Unless it's a dexterity game where a wobble ruins everything, a little warp just gives it character. I feel like sometimes we treat these things like museum items instead of stuff meant to be used.

Ugh, that's the worst. It feels like so many board game parts warp now, not just boards but player mats too. I've seen it happen with brand new games still in the shrink wrap. Makes you wonder if the cardboard quality has just gotten worse across the whole hobby.
