Just had a total board game meltdown at my local cafe last night
We were about an hour into a game of Root at The Daily Grind cafe, and my friend's toddler, who we thought was napping in the stroller, woke up and grabbed the board. He sent about forty wooden meeples and the deck of cards flying across the floor. My friend was mortified, and we all just froze for a second. I quickly grabbed the empty game box lid and started scooping pieces into it like a dustpan so nothing got stepped on or lost. It took us maybe fifteen minutes to sort everything back to the right factions using the player boards as a guide. Honestly, it was a good lesson in staying calm when a game goes sideways. Has anyone else had a public game session go totally off the rails like that? What did you do?
