Had to pick between a $5 thrift store copy of Twilight Imperium and a $60 new copy, guess which one I went with

I grabbed the beat up thrift store copy for $5 and after 3 games I've already spent more on replacement tokens and sleeving the cards than I would have just buying it new, anyone else fall for the low price trap on a used game?

Yeah the low price trap is real. I spent more on zip-lock bags and cardboard token replacements for my used copy of Food Chain Magnate than the game itself cost me.

the low price trap is real" - man, you nailed it there. It's like you save money upfront but then get hit with all these hidden costs that add up quick. I've been there with other games where I thought I was getting a steal, but then realized I had to buy replacement parts or make my own to even play properly. The zip-lock bag thing is so relatable too, I've got a whole drawer of random bags and tokens from builds like that. It's honestly frustrating when you spend more on fixing up a used copy than if you just bought it new. Solidarity though, at least you got the game working in the end even if it cost you extra.
