Finally tried heavy euro games after years of Ameritrash
I always thought fiddly resource management games would bore me after 30 minutes, but last month I played Brass Birmingham at a local cafe and the tactical depth hooked me way more than dice chucking ever did. Anyone else convert from one style to another and feel silly for waiting so long?

Dude, same thing happened to me with "tactical depth." I was all about games where you just roll dice and hope for the best. Then a buddy made me play Great Western Trail. Felt like I was actually making decisions that mattered. Now I can't go back. Resource chains and market manipulation got me hooked.

Oh yeah, I read an article about how eurogames changed people's brains like that... it said something about how once you start seeing the engine behind the luck you can't unsee it. @the_ryan, Great Western Trail is a perfect example - I tried it once and spent the whole game just staring at my hand trying to figure out if I should push cows or buy buildings. Now I catch myself planning resource chains in my sleep... it's like a whole different way of thinking about games.
