3 years ago I taught my uncle Ticket to Ride, and I still hear about the train station rule at Thanksgiving
Back in 2022 my uncle Ray from Sarasota visited for a week and I made the mistake of teaching him Ticket to Ride on day one. He got obsessed. By day three he was sketching routes on napkins at a diner in Gulfport like he was planning a real railroad. The problem is he refused to use train stations, called them 'cheating little huts', and lost 4 games in a row because of it. Now every Thanksgiving he brings up how the rules are 'rigged for lazy people' and my aunt has to change the subject. I love him but I need a new family game before December. Has anyone found a game that works for stubborn relatives who invent their own rules?
