Wasted $200 on a cheap anvil from Amazon

Bought a 55lb cast iron anvil off Amazon for $200. First week it chipped on a mild steel project. Hardness was garbage, face was uneven. Stuck with my beat up old Fisher anvil instead. Anyone else get burned by those cheap imports from China?

Damn straight, @sage_perry. It's the same story everywhere these days. People think they're getting a deal but end up with crap that can't do the job. I see it with tools, with furniture, with clothes you buy online - everything's made to look good in a photo but falls apart the second you actually use it. That cast iron anvil was probably just a paperweight dressed up with a cheap paint job. Worst part is, by the time you figure out it's junk, you're past the return window and stuck with it.

And that's the thing, it's not even worth it for the price when a good used anvil can be found for the same money if you're patient. People just see the low price tag and don't realize you're paying for basically a glorified boat anchor lol.
