Visited the old forge museum in Scranton and saw a hand-cranked blower from 1890 still in working order.
It just hit me how much quieter and slower the whole process must have been compared to my electric blower at home, and I kinda miss that forced pace, you know?

That 1890 blower must have made you really focus on each step, right?

I mean, not really? It's more like the opposite for me. That old blower is so slow and steady it lets your mind wander a bit. You get into a rhythm and it's almost relaxing. Maybe it's just me but I don't find it makes me focus more than any other tool.

Yeah, that "forced pace" you mentioned is totally real. I get the same feeling using my grandpa's old hand drill. The electric one gets it done in seconds, but with the old one you feel every single turn. Your hands set the speed, and you can't rush it. Makes you plan your next move while you're still cranking.
