Serious question, did a 20 year old at the Rockford fair just change how I think about tempered steel
I was at the Rockford county fair two Saturdays back, mostly just killing time, and this kid running the demo booth told me my quench tank was too warm and that my 1084 blades were coming out soft because of it. I've been tempering in the same 55 gallon drum for 11 years and never gave the water temp a second thought. He pulled out a pocket thermometer and showed me the tank was sitting near 90 degrees. So am I the one who's been wrong this whole time?
