PSA: My anvil stand collapsed mid-strike on a 30-pound billet last Tuesday

I was drawing out a chunk of 4140 for a customer's project and one of the legs on my homemade stand just buckled, sending the anvil and my almost finished piece crashing sideways onto the shop floor - has anyone else had a stand fail on them suddenly like that?

300 bucks at a farm supply store for a welded I-beam base and it would have held. I had a similar leg buckle on a 4x4 stand I built with lag bolts, now I always cross-brace with 45 degree gussets on any stand over 24 inches tall. If you're gonna weld it yourself, make sure your welds are full penetration on the leg joints, not just tacked on the outside.

Didn't someone post a video of a similar failure from a welding mistake last year?
