Hot take: Those $20 HF anvils actually have a use

I was dead set against cheap anvils for years. Told everyone to save up for a real one. But I grabbed a 55lb cast iron one from Harbor Freight on a whim last month. Use it for bending stock and punching holes now. Keeps my good anvil clean for final shaping. Anyone else found a weird secondary use for low end tools?

So do you actually use the HF anvil for anything besides keeping your good one clean?

You ever seen what happens when a buddy drops his main anvil and chips the face? My friend Mike was using his cheap HF one as a makeshift brake press for some flat stock and it actually held up better than I expected.
