Hit 2,000 hammer swings in one session and couldn't lift my arm the next day

I was working on a set of porch brackets at my shop outside Nashville and got into a rhythm. Lost track of time and kept going on the same beveling pass for maybe 3 hours straight. Counting it out later I realized I'd swung that 2 pound cross peen over 2,000 times. Has anyone else pushed through a project and then paid for it the next morning?

I mean I did something similar building a workbench last summer and it was brutal. I found that switching to a lighter hammer for the last part of the session helped a ton, like I'd use a 12 ounce ball peen to finish up once my arm started giving out. Also learned the hard way that stretching your forearm and shoulder every 30 minutes keeps things from locking up the next day. Idk if it's the same for you but putting ice on my elbow right after I stopped made a big difference too. Maybe try alternating hands if you can, even just for a few minutes at a time.

Exactly this. Stretching is the real secret people skip. Ice after is non-negotiable for me too.
