Warning: my buddy in Austin swore the 3-episode rule is dead, and now I can't argue with him
He said if a show needs 3 hours to get good it already failed, and after burning 6 hours on a slow one he was totally right. So what's the shortest leash you give a new show before you bail, one episode or two?
Your buddy sounds like he saved himself a lot of wasted nights, and honestly he's got a point. I used to give shows a full season to win me over, and looking back, most of those never got good, I just got used to them. Now I give it one episode, maybe two if the first had something I liked buried in there. Streaming has way too many options to sit through hours of buildup hoping it pays off. Six hours is wild though, that's a whole work day gone.
