Thought The OA was just hype, now I'm eating my words

I kept seeing people rave about The OA on Netflix but brushed it off as pretentious art-house stuff. Gave it a shot last weekend after a buddy swore by it, and I binged all 8 episodes in one sitting. The way they built the mystery around the missing kids and that dance thing caught me off guard. Anybody else sleep on a show and then get proven totally wrong like this?

...but did it hit you hardest at that one scene where they're doing the movements in the rec room and the camera just lingers on their faces? For me that was the moment I stopped thinking it was weird and started feeling like I was watching something actually real. What was the thing that flipped your switch from eye rolling to totally hooked?

Hugo_ellis, that's exactly the scene that got me too. The way they're just standing there with those slow, deliberate hand gestures, and then the camera just stays on their faces without cutting away. Felt like watching someone's home video, not a TV show. I stopped rolling my eyes and started paying real attention at that point.
