The first season of The Wire is brilliant but the second season feels like a completely different show
I binge watched all of season 1 in three days and loved the street level crime story, but after episode 1 of season 2 with all the dock workers and shipping containers I almost quit the series, so did anyone else struggle to push through that shift or does it get better?

almost quit the series" is exactly how I felt my first time through too lol. I actually did stop watching for like a month after season 2 started. But then my buddy kept telling me to stick with it so I gave it another shot and man I was wrong. The dock worker stuff feels slow at first but it ends up being super important to the whole city's big picture. By the time you finish season 2 you'll see how it all connects back to the street stuff and it makes the whole show way deeper. Trust me push through it, it's worth it.

Push through it though? I mean yeah okay the dock stuff ties into the bigger picture eventually but I'm not sure it's worth a whole month of boredom. I got about three episodes into season 2 and just started skipping ahead to the street scenes. Still felt like I got the gist of the political stuff without having to sit through long shots of shipping containers. Guess I'm just not patient enough to wait for the show to earn my attention. If a season loses me that fast I usually just move on.
