The first season of The Expanse nearly lost me, the last one broke me

I gave the show 5 episodes back in 2018 and quit, then my buddy in Austin begged me to stick with it through episode 8, and by the end of season 3 I was bingeing 4 hours a night, has anyone else had a show flip that hard for them after a slow start?

Broke you? It's a TV show, not a breakup. I get the slow burn thing, but calling it a broken heart feels like a stretch. Season 1 was mostly people being grumpy on a spaceship, and season 6 ended with a shrug. The twist with the protomolecule was cool, but I never needed therapy after a credits roll. Maybe my heart's just made of stone, but I'd save "broke" for something like losing a pet.
