That coworker who told me to skip episodes still bugs me
I was in the breakroom at my office last Tuesday and this guy Mark walks up while I'm watching Battlestar Galactica on my phone. He goes "oh you can skip season 3, it's filler anyway" and I just stared at him. Like how do you even say that about a show where the whole point is the character arcs? I still have to see him at the coffee machine every morning and he keeps giving me updates on how I should be watching it. Has anyone else had a person ruin a show by telling you to fast forward through parts?

iris_green84 nailed it with the earbuds but honestly I think the real thing nobody talks about is how weird it is when someone tries to "optimize" a show for you like it's a spreadsheet. Mark probably watches everything with a checklist of plot points and misses the whole vibe. Battlestar Galactica especially, that show is about people making terrible choices in a panic, not about efficiency. Skipping season 3 means you miss the whole New Caprica arc where everyone's trauma gets laid bare. People like Mark treat TV like it's a chore to finish instead of something to sit with.
