Rewatching The Wire after 9 years hit completely different

Tbh I first saw The Wire back in 2015 when I was 24 and mostly just liked the street scenes and the drama. Recently picked it back up because my brother kept saying I missed half the show the first time. This time around I noticed how much the show is about systems failing people, not just cops vs dealers. The school arc with Prez and the kids wrecked me this watch, I never even paid attention to it before. Anyone else rewatch a show after a long gap and feel like you were watching a totally different series?
