Picked Gilmore Girls over The Wire for my one free night a week, and now I'm 5 seasons deep
I get exactly one night a week to binge since my kid was born, so 3 months ago I had to pick between rewatching The Wire or finally starting Gilmore Girls. I went with Gilmore Girls because it felt like less of a commitment, and now I'm 5 seasons in at my mom's place in Sacramento every Sunday while she watches with me. Did I waste my one free night on the wrong show, or is Gilmore Girls secretly the better binge?

A buddy of mine did the opposite, burned his only free night on The Wire and ended up calling me every Monday depressed about Stringer Bell. The thing is, Gilmore Girls is sneaky good for this kind of setup because it works at half attention. You can fold laundry, eat dinner, whatever, and still follow it. The Wire demands your full brain, and when you only get one night a week you lose the thread between episodes and end up rewatching scenes. Your Sunday routine with your mom sounds like the real win here, three months of that beats three months of staring at a screen alone. Plus Rory and Lorelai talk so fast you basically get two shows worth of words per episode.
