My buddy told me to skip the first 4 episodes of The Wire and I finally tried it
He swore seasons 1 and 2 were just setup and to jump straight to season 3, so I did it last weekend and I was so lost on who half the characters were by episode 2 that I went back and started over. Anyone else get bad advice like this, or is there a show where skipping ahead really does work?

Your buddy's advice was just plain wrong, but jumping to season 3 works fine for sitcoms with no story.
